The pursuit of your highest truth.

In what I call his trilogy of good books with this one as it's finally, Richard Bach espouses the idea that you create your own reality, “state your limitations and sure enough they are yours,” for example. In Jonathan Seagull, Jonathan was a seagull that refused to be defined by the ‘reality’ his grey seagull friends insisted upon him. He would defy those norms by transcending to a higher reality. In Bach’s next book Illusion, he carries that thought into practice as the main character is ‘the reluctant messiah’. Essentially the book espoused the idea that only you can form the life you are experiencing. You can accept the reality placed upon you by the circumstance life has placed upon you. Or you can take responsibility without seeking a messiah to save you. I know this sounds like anti Christianity, to many who needed to escape from the church in that era. But actually all of this comes to a crystallized message consistent with Christ’s message in The Bride across Forever, which his actually a true story, his autobiography . This book is a love story. Life together starts with, is, and ends with love.

In Bach’s true to life story he examines the ideas of soul-mate and life-mate. Is there a one-to-one relationship? I look with envy to those who were lucky enough to go through one life with one life-mate. Ever wonder if through all that hard work, are you with your soul-mate? Richard Bach and Leslie Parish come together from life experiences that include divorce. So, maybe not. Both were happy being single in their post divorce lives, knowing that when that life-mate to soul-mate appears they would do the right thing.

Focusing on Bach and his inner thoughts, his logic being selfish, began with the idea that in life there is no perfect ‘soul-mate’ woman, and a soul-mate is an amalgamation of many women from past lives. Thus he had many women in his life only to come to the reality that they were superficial relationships, lacking the willingness to experience the ‘give-and-take” lessons of life. Leslie’s character in the book did not explore the pursuit of love but of causes. Her career and causes filled her life.

When Richard met Leslie, it was on an elevator. It was a coincidental moment where there was an energy, with no realized rationality. Later the rose would bloom. Through much conversation between the two Richard came to a ‘new reality’. Is she the one? Sex crept into the story which threw a new dynamic. Will the tradition of monogamy, imply ownership of each other’s daily lives? I call this the superficial special love that is overwhelmingly oppressive, obsessive, and ultimately selfish; fraught with all the misery that jealousy brings to the psyches and tares at the soul. They work their way through this by facing extreme challenges brought on to them by those who surrounded Richard. Together they each learned to bend as the rose does to the sun, toward each other. Here is where Richard found love true love, a soulmate. He actually found truth and what real love as opposed to special love conceived in selfishness, is.

A timeless book......

This book was not written with a romance novel attitude. I know as many men who have read Bach as women since it's written from a man's perspective without "flowy" words. This book is my favorite and I'm so happy to have it in hard copy. It is studied in many schools.

By the way, Richard Bach is the grandson of the composer....fun trivia.

The Best Autobiography I've Yet Read

"In God's Underground" is a hugely compelling account of gross persecution and great spiritual truimph. Wurmbrand's style is lucid, naturalistic, and enjoyable, and his stunning portrayals of life in communist prisons are effective without being maudlin or lurid. While his subject-matter is gripping in it's own right, Wurbrand's spiritual insight and his portrayals of his own, vibrant relationship with the Almighty are what make this book truly great. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys great autobiographies, and I especially recommend it to anyone who has ever wondered why someone would choose to suffer for their Faith.

Saints are human, too.

Mystic. Philosopher. Loving husband. Worried father. Proud member of the Jewish race. Creature with nerve ending that ache when you hit them and who hungers when you starve him. Social being who hallucinates apart from human voices, and hungers for sex and companionship as well as food. Martyr who stands up to tyrants and warns them to repent. Lutheran pastor with a weakness for jokes. Richard Wurmbrand may have been a "voice of the martyrs," but after reading this sensitive, deeply honest autobiography, what impresses me the most is the degree to which his voice is also the voice of humankind. I found it challenging to see how, as a well-read Christian in tough times who faces all the temptations I do, he integrated the various facets of his humanity with his faith.
In a literal sense, faith made Wurmbrand a free-thinker. Embracing a religion that fits the full complexity of life, miracles as well as madness, and sharing a broad and often painful experience with a knowledge of several spiritual traditions, he was free to think on many questions and come to unexpected conclusions both whimsical and sober. There are many modern names that could be added to the list of heroes of the faith of Hebrews 11. Wurmbrand tells us some of their stories, including his own.

This book touched me and changed my whole view of the term 'martyr'. I have since become a great fan of Wurmbrand, his books never fail to stun one into a deep, reverential silence.

I have purchased many resources as a student and now as a practitioner. This and the OT toolkit are by far the best resources I have found. The information is informative with practical intervention application. If you are a student this is a must have as you study various conditions and treatment. As a practitioner this includes amazing handouts in both English and Spanish, which are actually helpful and display written and picture directions. I highly recommend this for universities, students, practitioners, clinical fieldwork educators, and anyone caring for someone who wants to regain independence.

This is a comprehensive set of exercises which should meet the home exercise program needs of about any patient. Having the exercises in English and Spanish is an exceptional benefit. The price is very competitive in the world of home exercise program handouts and the treatment guides are very current. I would highly recommend this as a part of the "Tool Kit" of any PT professional actively involved in the care of patients. The PT Tookit is very thorough and detailed including impairments, assessments, interventions and patient/caregiver handouts. The handouts are easy to follow and include excellent illustrations for each activity or exercise. Definitely a useful addition to all types of settings for the adult/geriatric population. I highly recommend it.

The Dragon demystified

I've been looking forward to this book for a long long time. Victory Belt released their Machida DVD set well over a year ago. Well my review copy finally arrived and I'm pleased to say it's everything I expected.

Machida Karate-Do Mixed Martial Arts Techniques is your typical Victory Belt publication -- great photographs, crystal clear step-by-step explanations of each technique, good organization, color coded pages for easy reference, etc.

Most importantly they really seem to have figured out how to distill the most unique aspects of a fighter's style into a training method. For those of you who train and want to add a little bit of the undefeated UFC light heavyweight champ's patented elusive striking into your game, this is the book.

This promises to be the first of a two part series. The second book will focus on the pure Karate style of Machida where this book focuses on the techniques he applies to MMA.

Me personally, I don't train but I still find these books to be invaluable study guides to help me understand and appreciate what I'm seeing. Stand up techniques -- particularly footwork -- were for a long time a totally mysterious aspect of the game to me. Now, thanks to reading a goodly number of technical manuals including those by Fedor Emelianenko, Greg Jackson, Erich Krauss and Anderson Silva, I'm beginning to get a better handle on the art of footwork.

Machida's book is definitely a master's class on footwork. Literally every single striking technique illustrated in this book begins by stepping such that you have a clear positional advantage over your opponent. Just as Helio Gracie's innovative jiu jitsu system emphasized always seeking dominant position, Machida's approach to striking hinges entirely on being somewhere you can get a clean shot at your opponent and he can't reply in kind.

But for all of the subtlety and nuance of Machida's style, it's also a surprisingly brutal system. The strikes are designed to inflict injury and the combinations just up that ante. The sections on the Muay Thai clinch are especially brutal and illustrate that Machida Karate-do is a very pluralistic system that synthesizes useful techniques from a variety of arts besides karate, especially Muay Thai, jiu jitsu and sumo.

The book also includes a number of Machida's patented karate sweeps and trips which, if mastered, can give anyone a true "leg up" on the competition. Of all Machida's techniques, I think the sweeps and trips have the most potential to be widely adopted by more MMA fighters.

All in all, this is yet another excellent Victory Belt publication and I recommend it for all the Shoguns on your shopping list.

Glen Cordoza has quickly become known as the mixed martial artist's writer. While balancing his time as a competitive MMA fighter, Glen also has several hugely successful books to his name. These books include collaborations with Fedor Emelianenko, BJ Penn, Randy Couture, Marcelo Garcia, Eddie Bravo and current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, among others.

Already known for the quality of their writing, production and photographs, Machida Karate-Do continues to round out the product line of Victory Belt Publishing. Through their books they offer all the striking, all the wrestling, all the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and all the clinchwork a modern-day mixed martial artist needs to enter the cage and a fan needs to more thoroughly understand and enjoy the sport.

What Machida Karate-Do offers is different, perhaps as different as any mixed martial arts technique book on the market. Victory Belt combined the skills of a fighter who is known as the first "karate" fighter to be truly successful in MMA, with their own brand - which, though only founded five years ago, is already the premier mixed martial arts book publisher. While champions come and go, while even the best fighters eventually lose, Machida has forever left his stylistic mark on the sport of mixed martial arts. No other book on the market offers these skills as simply or as effectively as Machida Karate-Do. It may be Victory Belt's best book for this aspect alone. Every fan of Lyoto Machida, of MMA, of the traditional martial arts and of Victory Belt Publishing should add this to their collection.

I recommend this book be purchased with Machida-Do Karate for Mixed Martial Arts (4-DVD Box Set). Reading about/viewing the step-by-step still images of the techniques alongside watching the techniques in slow motion then full speed helped reinforce the lessons and make them click for me.

This is yet another enduring contribution to the sport of mixed martial arts from Glen Cordoza, Erich Krauss and Victory Belt Publishing.

How to generate wealthy feelings... no visualization required

I am highly excited about the new book by Genevieve Davis. The book gives something that I could not find in any book on the LoA including my favourite books written by Richard Dotts. The book gives you ability to generate feelings of being wealthy without _any_ visualization.

The plan is simple. Special allocation of income makes you:
1. Feel wealthy because you have considerable amounts of money.
2. Feel wealthy because you have to spend some money to pamper yourself.
3. Feel wealthy because you change "I can't afford it" statement to "I can afford it next month" or so.
4. Feel wealthy because you have money for unexpected bills.
5. Get rid of guilt of being wealthy because this helps others.

I absolutely believe that following this plan will make you feel wealthy without any extra effort. And it is so easy to implement.

I've already set up 5 accounts and ready to fill them with my next income. I'm going to update this review on December 20, 2015 or when I receive extra $15k, whatever happens first.

By the way, I liked pragmatic approach to LoA of the author. She states that LoA will most probably not give you money without any cause, but from some hidden cause, which could become reality and could not, for example extra good paying client. You have to do something to earn money, but without your feelings you would not get that client at all. And I witnessed such working of feelings this way several times.

Details. I quit my day job 05/31/2015 with intention to be a coach. Not a life coach, but in very specific high tech computer science niche. Two months later reading this book I had one client and much less income than my job provided before I quit. Since that time I acquired about 10 clients (mostly they found me) and I'm quite well financially, my current income is comparable or better than on my ex-job. I have more free time and opportunity to create products such as books and courses, so I continue my way to becoming rich.

Not for Me. A little too Basic for My Needs. But Great if You're Curious and Need to Budget

I really love all of GD's books. But this one really left me a little underwhelmed. She has lots of practical advice disseminated from things we find to be "too woo to be true" and much of it is applicable. But this book? Well, she basically tells you to become a better money manager, and a stronger steward of your finances. This is something I have been doing over the past few months, especially since I've experienced quite a few "feast or famine" situations. However, I would suggest you invest in the following books to strengthen your spiritual/practical understanding of creating, attracting, and experiencing an influx of money and a feeling of abundance:

- Get Rich Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield-Thomas
- Creating Money by Sanaya Roman and Dwayne Packer
- Money: A Love Story by Kate Northup
- The Energy of Money by Maria Nemeth

If you want to increase the vibes for abundance and receiving what you want, and strong mindset shifts, check out:

- The Power of Receiving
- Ask and It is Given
- The Big Leap

While GD's advice is practical - and some of us definitely need to consider partitioning our finances in the manner she suggests to kickstart the experience and "be" in the vibe of financial comfort, I truly believe there are subconscious and underlying actions, beliefs, and attitudes that must be addressed -and they require much more of us than to simply open more bank accounts. What about creating more streams of income? What about deliberately examining the thoughts we have about whether or not we are abundant? What about blocks in our behavior (besides egregious spending and lack of budgeting) that hold us back?

This is a great reminder for one of the tools of creating more wealth - and being less financially strained, but honestly, I did expect to get more from this. I still encourage you to check it out of you're curious to learn her methods and beliefs. I seriously love this writer and her books, but this one I'll pass on. I guess it's just not for me. But I hope it serves you well if that's what's meant to be.

Just okay

I really like Genevieve and don't want to take anything away from her or her methods. I just want to let others know that this is really just a budgeting idea. I do expect that put into use it will have a good effect on finances and mindset for some. However, the budgeting thing makes me feel more restricted and "poor" than empowered and rich. It's kind of like being on a diet. If I count every calorie I'm just not at all happy and that's all I can think about all day. If I just eat what I know is good and not stuff myself, I lose weight and feel free and easy (or easier, at least). Anyway, it wasn't the best for me.
